Modular Home Building and Assembly Surprise!

The modular home building process can come as quite a shock if you are not accustomed to how fast a transportable home can be built. In the morning, a vacant block of land; in the afternoon, a two-storey family-sized modular home. Admittedly, most of these videos are American. However, very similar home building processes are applicable in Australia.

Factory assembly in 35 seconds (time-lapse of course). Notice how the entire floor of the factory is a grid of tracks; so the transportable home can progress from one end of the factory to the other (just like a car assembly plant).

If you want it simple and you want it NOW! Then this one bedroom home is a modern, cheap and quick example (from the UK). Note the footings. If you go to www.brightbuild.co.uk, you will see this is a very upmarket little unit starting at fifty thousand pounds. Go to the gallery and have a look at the way they have got large sliding doors between the modules and the way the floor transitions from carpet to wood flooring between the modules of this relocatable home. Lovely home with great use of space.

Transportable homes and transportable restaurants. Just so you don’t get bored, here’s an example of an entire transportable restaurant being moved; ovens, fridges, counters, the lot! Even the drive-thru!

Back to the business of transportable homes, …

This next video comes from a ‘makeover television show’; that’s why there are so many people standing around. However, the completed transportable home is huge with stone walls.

Ever dreamt of a log home up in the mountains in the snow? This video also features a very modern transportable home featured in a home and garden show.

Modular Home Building and Assembly Surprise!

The shock of seeing a family-sized modular home ‘pop up’ from nowhere while you are away at work is nothing short of amazing. And the modular home building process is something to behold if you are new to this form of ‘instant housing’. For that very reason, I have selected these videos to illustrate the modular home building and assembly process (mostly American videos). However, it is a very similar process in the Australian Transportable Homes Industry.

Note: If this page takes a while to load, go and make a coffee and come back. This page is worth watching.

There are parts of the following transportable homes video that are absolutely amazing, especially the sprawling mansion, but you have to sit through a bit of product advertising which does not apply to transportable homes in Australia.

I simply could not have said it better than the guy in this next video …

Are You Kidding?! I don’t know where in the world this video came from but it proves a point (excuse the ‘floral language’ in the background). There are some very funny people in the transportable homes industry that will do anything to prove a point, that being that transportable homes are built to be very strong.

The following video is very quick and blurry in places, but if you want to see a transportable home construction from bare dirt to fully completed and landscaped in 1 minute and 15 seconds; then this is the video for you. PS: I don’t know why they decided to build a garage using traditional methods when the house is a modular home. I guess that’s what the owner wanted, so that’s what they got.

Fancy a beach shack whipped up in a day? I wish they had shown more of the finished product, but notice how they have a large module and a long, thin module which give them the width they desired.

Here’s a different transportable home! Cement ground floor with Modular second storey. But look at the way they do the roof! How cool is that! What a spectacular transportable home.

Modular Home Building and Assembly Surprise!

There is nothing more astonishing than driving home from work to discover a brand new house appearing (out of nowhere) on what was a vacant block of land when you drove past it eight hours earlier that day. This is the normality of the modular home building process; it’s fast, it’s efficient and it’s cheaper in most cases. To demonstrate the modular building process, I have collated these videos for you (this is the first of a series of three). Admittedly, most of these videos about modular home building and transportable home assembly are American. However, very similar building processes are happening right here in the Australian modular home building industry.

Note: If this page takes a while to load, go and make a coffee and come back. This page is worth watching.

This video will really open your eyes to the extent of transportable homes grandeur and opulence. It also introduces you to a couple who chose to build a modular home, why they chose it and the modular home building process they went through. There is some amazing assembly footage in this video.

The next video is actually Australian! Transporting a Modular Home to Kangaroo Island on a Ferry. This video gives you more information about the on-site modular home building process, and how a transportable homes manufacturer transported this modular home in pieces across 13 kilometers of ocean to its final destination.

This is a great modular home building video! But it sounds ‘hammy’ to begin with. If you can ignore the beginning, you will get a good insight into what modular home building have to offer. Australian transportable homes manufacturers are doing the same thing, however this American manufacturer has only a 1 year warrantee when most Australian operators offer between 5 to 30 years.

The modular home buildings in this video are big, really big. Modular homes can be anything from an open-plan tiny weekender, to a massive rambling mansion; like those featured in this next video.

This modular home building assembly video features a crane lifting a large roof section over power lines in a built-up residential area.

The next video is a bit slow and their choice of music is ‘ordinary’ but the finished modular home is worth the wait …
